Will they be serving soft serve? If not, not interested.
Rude flag?
Could there be a "Flag as Rude" button added? I would use it frequently.
Congratulations Peer Amid Bead. I'm excited to see the changes to the location.
Rude flag, indeed.
So, it's rude to express dissatisfaction with the fact that McDonald's - who has the best vanilla soft serve ice cream - is gone and a bead store moved into its former location?
I'm so very sorry you think that my expression is rude. I hope you are able to be more accepting of different opinions in the future.
Peer Amid Bead store
I couldn't care less that McDonalds is gone. You want ice cream that bad either go to the Valley, or go to the grocery. On the other hand I am THRILLED that the owner of Peer Amid Beads has made such a smart business move and taken over the old McDonalds location. She is a very savy business woman and I am sure will make a success out of it. McD's is just another rat hole that serves greasy fast food and pays their workers minimum wage with little to no benefits.
Soft serve
I would guess that it wasn't Peer Amid's fault that the downtown McDonalds franchise went out of business. Maybe you should have bought more ice cream.
Beads.
We needs them.
olden days
If someone really wanted to bring back good soft serve, you have to go all the way back to "scarf and barf" dairy queen days. It was in the small building in between downtown blockbuster and harborview school - - soft serve cone dipped in chocolate. Yummy.
DQ
Swimmergirl is right. DQ for the win ... no question about it.
No one is blaming the beads store for McD's departure. Just expressing a preference for ice cream, and for not having to drive 15 minutes to get it. The gas ends up costing more than the cone.
More on beads though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emgXwYWqd9Y
Cool!

Does anyone remember what was
Does anyone remember what was there before McDonalds? A drug store?
Why complain about McD's in this article?
This is about a locally owned business expanding during a tough economic time, not about McDonalds. And Countthis, how much do you expect a fast food place to pay somebody to build a burger? Where else can you get a meal, healthy or otherwise, for under $7? If anybody working in fast food has an issue with their pay, they need to find another line of work or figure out how to climb the ladder.

Last year my company was doing a wage comparison for seasonal workers, and I was shocked to see that McDonalds paid what they did last year!
Sorry fbomb
You know fbomb, you're right. You weren't being rude and I was. I am very sorry.
Swimmergirl/juneauakgrrl
Swimmergirl - "Scarf and Barf (also known as the "[filtered word] Shack") was the BEST for ice cream burgers and HUGE bags of fries. It's real name was the Juno Maid Drive-in. You can see an old sign out at the Thane Ore House (started by the former owner of Juno Maid)
juneauakgrrl - the old McDonald's location was formerly the 20th Century Grocery Store. Owned by the Gross family who own the theatres. They used to have the Slushy machine in there, and you could make your own...my friends and I loved that place!!
Filtered word
I tried to "filter" it myself, but it starts with "sh" and ends with "it".
