A power outage affected about 200 customers in the Back Loop Road area early Wednesday morning.
Alaska Electric Light & Power Spokeswoman Gayle Wood said the outage started around 5:30 a.m. and was caused by Department of Transportation snow-removal equipment that hit a cable and telephone pole that crossed Back Loop Road, bringing down the pole.
She said power for about half of the customers was restored by 6:30 a.m. yet that power was cut off again for nine minutes while repairs were made to another feeder.
Power to all customers was officially restored at 7:35 a.m. However, there were six houses affected for three or four hours while additional temporary repairs were made.
