Prospectus for special use permits on Admiralty Island National Monument available

The Tongass National Forest has announces the availability of a prospectus for special use permits for the Pack Creek Zoological Area on Admiralty Island National Monument.

This prospectus is being issued to solicit applications in a competitive process for nature-based viewing outfitting and guiding permits at the Pack Creek Bear Viewing Area, Windfall Harbor and Swan Cove. Permits will be awarded on established evaluation criteria and other required documents as described in the prospectus document.

The prospectus is now available for viewing on the Tongass National Forest’s website at Detailed information regarding the opportunity, as well as Forest Service regulations, policies, special use permits, and application and post-selection requirements are available. This website will also serve as the main source for all prospectus-related information and updates throughout the solicitation process.

The deadline for submitting a proposal is June 24, 2011 and applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. They must be submitted to Chad VanOrmer, Admiralty Island National Monument Ranger (Attention Jennifer Berger), at 8510 Mendenhall Loop Rd, Juneau, AK 99801.

Personnel from the Tongass National Forest will be available to meet with prospective applicants and provide information regarding the opportunity at an open house that will be held April 21 from 3-7 p.m. at the Admiralty Island National Monument offices at the above address.
