Capital City Fire and Rescue is taking applications for openings and for an eligibility list for its scholarship program. The program is open to Alaska residents planning to attend University of Alaska Southeast.
CCFR awards 13 scholarships for each semester, which are renewable each semester for up to two years of study provided the student is fulfilling all requirements. This program requires participants to be live-in firefighters with CCFR. There are currently openings in the program.
A panel of judges will select the winners based on each student’s future potential to contribute their knowledge and talents in Alaska. Each student’s service to their community, school and school achievements will be taken into consideration. Applicants selected from the review process will be invited to participate in interviews on May 18, 19, or 20. Interviews may be done via teleconference.
Along with the application form, students are asked to include in their scholarship package a letter of application, an official high school and/or college transcript, letters of recommendation, a criminal background check, a driving record, media release form, and a health screening form. It is important that all these be submitted with the application.
