New head named for Kensington Mine

Coeur Alaska has appointed John M. Kinyon as the new vice president and general manager of the Kensington Gold Mine, 45 miles northwest of Juneau. Kinyon has 30 years of mining operations and management experience in a variety of locations, including New Zealand, Australia, Tanzania, South Dakota, San Francisco, British Columbia and the Yukon Territory.

He was most recently the mine general manager with Yukon Zinc at the Wolverine Mine in the Yukon Territory. Prior to that he was vice president of New Zealand operations with Oceana Gold and served as general manager at Barrick Gold’s Eskay Creek Mine in British Columbia.

Kinyon attended South Dakota State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Black Hills University.
