City meetings: April 18 - April 21

• The Affordable Housing Subcommittee will meet at noon today to discuss funding sources for the Affordable Housing coordinator position and the housing fund at the Gruening Park Apartments.

• Bartlett Regional Hospital will hold a special board meeting regarding the budget at 5:15 p.m. on Monday in the board room in the Administration building. It will be immediately followed by the Finance Committee Meeting.

• The Assembly Finance Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Assembly Chambers. It will hear school district budget presentation, Alaska Committee (FY12 budget request needs to be approved), Bartlett Regional Hospital budget presentation and Juneau Economic Development Council budget request of an increase in funding.

• The AJ Mine Advisory Committee will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Assembly Chambers. It plans to take public comment on its draft report.

This day in Juneau history: Feb. 19

On Feb. 19, 1987, Gov. Steve Cowper and the Alaska Legislature formed a budget plan for the upcoming year. The House Finance Committee passed a bill giving Gov. Cowper permission to spend the $428 million reserve fund, and representatives described meetings with Gov. Cowper “wonderful”.
