On the heels of a fatal car crash Saturday morning, the Juneau Police Department investigated two more vehicle accidents recently, one involving life-threatening injuries, according to information from JPD.
A driver lost control of his scooter, which struck a concrete median on Riverside Drive early Saturday morning, according to a release from JPD. Capital City Fire and Rescue responded and transported the driver to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of apparent life-threatening injuries.
JPD responded Monday to a call from a woman who said she had been in an accident downtown on Egan Drive.
Officers determined a vehicle driven by Sharon Zuboff had crashed into a pickup truck driven by Claire Hesson. The crash forced JPD to close the left lane of Egan Drive in the area for about 20 minutes. JPD cited Zuboff for failing to maintain a safe distance. No injuries were reported, and damage to Zuboff’s car is estimated at $3,000.

And yet...I see a man SHAVING on his drive in to work this morning. Come on people...are you really that stupid?!?!?!?!?
crappy drivers in juneau
This morning I was driving in the left lane doing 58 mph with a car in front of me. A toyota crv traveling in left lane came up on me in a high rate of speed, passed me and the guy in front of me in the right lane. He changed lanes without using a turn signal, passed us in the right lane at approx 70mph, and then turned back into the left lane without using a turn signal only to be stopped at the mcnugget intersection 20 seconds later. Do we really have to drive so irradically and put people unnecessarily in danger for the addition of maybe 5 seconds of drive time. Come on people slow down and relax a little. It will be ok if your 5 seconds late. Its not worth killing someone.
Move to the right if you don't like getting passed on the left..
Regardless of your speed (but especially if you are going less than 55) unless you are passing someone you should be in the right lane - it's the law. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_114717695258429&ap=1

No it's not.

Its called common courtesy,
Its called common courtesy, though. If you want to drive 35 that all fine and dandy. Some of us like to drive the speed limit or more. I dont care if I'm driving 110, if someone wants to pass, I'll get over.
sadly kpawsuh, "courtesy" isn't so common anymore......
sadly kpawsuh, "courtesy" isn't so common anymore...... just saying.
I don't think courtesy was
I don't think courtesy was ever common among drivers. Driving is too anonymous, and people feel too powerful/entitled behind the wheel of a big vehicle.
I'd be happy.....
If people would just move their left pinkie two inches - and signal. Honestly, are we really THAT lazy?
crash physics
Sadly so many people don't understand the physics of a vehicle crash and the effects of speed on the outcome. Just a difference in speed say 45MPH vs. 65MPH in a head on collision, a roll over or a t-bone crash can sometimes make the difference between a fatal or an injury only crash. The increase in speed increases the likelyhood of injury exponentially. Also wearing a seatbelt. Be careful everyone.
Tickets
If I could write tickets,I would need a full book everyday!Wheres all the cops?
slow drivers
pretty simple. if you are driving 55mph or less, go to the right lane.
Alot of people in this village drive like they have nowhere to go and ALL DAY to get there!
Just becaue you will eventually turn left at McDonalds, doesn't mean you should clog the passing lane like you are a dimwit constantly looking for an address.
I sincerely wish you could attempt a brainless stunt like that ANYWHERE down south.
speeders
If you are driving 55 mph or less you are driving legally. If you are driving over 55 mph you are breaking the law.
Your speed.....
should also be determined by road conditions. Way too many times on wet roads I've witnessed people driving at a rate of speed too fast for dry roads and good visibility, much less wet roads and poor visibility. If I'm in the right lane doing 50 in a 55 because road conditions and visibility are poor (for me) and you are totally up on my backside, it seems to defeat the purpose of my courteous gesture of driving in the right lane.
Also: in a town this small,
Also: in a town this small, you're only going to shave off seconds, maybe a minute, off your total commute time by speeding.
If you can't handle someone going 55 in the left hand lane, then the problem lies with you, not the other driver. Learn some patience.
Too many of you think you are
Too many of you think you are the cops. Its not your job to "make" someone slow down. You are just stupidly risking your life and theirs. You don't know whats going on in their life. Maybe they are late for their flight, or their kids appointment. Maybe they are rushing someone to the hospital. Just because you arent in a hurry doesnt mean you have the right to impede anyone else. If JPD really was worried about it, they would be out there stopping everyone.
And Shelbert, if they had an open lane to drive in they wouldnt be up your backside.
They shouldn't be on your
They shouldn't be on your backside regardless. In a hurry? Great, you'll save 30 seconds if you don't cause an accident and make yourself REALLY late.
There's no excuse for being an aggressive driver. Keep a respectful distance and swallow your pride.
plan ahead
Poor planing on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine. Give yourself plenty of time to get to the airport or pick up the kids. If you're speeding you should be going to the hospital only.
