An immature bald eagle lays dead along Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek after being electrocuted Thursday, causing a localized power outage. A Juneau Raptor Center representative said this was the fourth eagle killed in the area and this may be related to people feeding the wild birds. Other birds were struck by vehicles.

Add commentEagles Aplenty In That Immediate Area
One might surmise if the fact that eagles seem to enjoy flocking and hanging out in large groups at the landfill raises no suspicions, it must be those people who are feeding wild birds alright! You need only look skyward and among the multitude of trees to see that there are eagles aplenty in that immediate area. It is indeed an unfortunate circumstance but it's also one that has been played out year after year.
News worthy?
Really? That is just not appropriate to post in the newspaper! Very disturbing!
poor taste
I agree that posting this photo is in poor taste.
@akangel
News worthy?
Probably not...
Disturbing?
No more than salmon derby pictures of people holding up dead fish.
I agree with Zombie. It's

Power Poles and Eagles
The websites are full of articles about eagles getting electrocuted when using a power transmission pole for a perch. Some power companies,have bolted on an extension to the top of their power poles in areas that eagles use to feed (city dump,and by fish creeks). This bolted on extension acts as a perch that eagles can land on with out getting electrocuted.Search "power pole eagle perch".
That photo was not necessary;
That photo was not necessary; we would have understood the article without that distasteful photo.
Just because something is dramatic doesn't mean it's news...
It is not so much the fact it is a dead Eagle, it is not a news story either. So what is the point? It is inelegant and in poor taste that someone would bother to post something like that in a newspaper. American media needs to figure out what is important to people and report on relevant articles. There is a empty mindset in the news media that thinks because something is dramatic, it is worth commenting on.
Wrong!
@BeanCountingZombie
I can eat a fish, I can't eat an eagle!
@akangel
Sure you can...just not in public. ;)
Bon Apitite!
