pacing issues?

did anyone else think the Juneau parade had pacing issues this year? some stuff just *flew* by, while others seemingly stopped at random.

for example, i was disappointed that the Rollergirls zipped past, but then the Lynden trailer stopped for a good long while, blocking view of anything else.

either way, i look forward to the KATH broadcast. =)

Children @ Parade

My comment has nothing to do with the actual parade but the children at the parade.

Ok I have kids I get the excitement of getting the candy. But for 2 yrs now we seem to get lucky enough to be next to the rudest children and people I have ever met. We have a little one he is 2, he cant just run out there so his sisters help him gather the candy in front of us, and Bless their hearts of the parade people themselves who try and toss it at his direction. But here come these little brats who dart in front of our little one to get it all leaving him at times in tears. I look up befuddled at the parents who don't seem to care one iota that there child is being so rude to a younger child. I watch them do it to other kids even knocking one over. Good thing for the parents they didn't let their little hellion knock over my kid.

Seriously people teach your kid some manners they can collect candy and gifts in front of them not knock over younger kids and prevent them from getting anything. This stuff should be fun for all not just the bully kids and their parents!!!!!

Before the little on we gave up on the fireworks and the parade and just camped because of peoples behavior. It's sad when people have to avoid the few things that go on here because other people have no respect for those around them!

rude children

AK Mom..... rude children are a product of bad parenting. I've always said, if a parenting test was required before becoming parents most would fail. Sadly " common curtesy" is not so common anymore. Neither is the instilling of basic manners, values, or respect. Contrary to popular opinion these basics have not gone out of style. I have witnessed some young people and children with a good foundation of these basics, but it is the exception not the norm. Back in the day my father would have grabbed such rude children by the cuff and found their parents and given them a "what for". Now a days I'm sure that would be construded as child abuse. It's a shame.

Two things...

First of all, I watched KATH at 7pm on channel 652, and it wasn't the parade - it was some game show. Did anyone actually see the parade on TV?

As for rude kids, I completely agree the rest of you. I had a pair of 10-12 year old boys next to me that I had to literally push away twice (after asking nicely twice) because they were stepping on my camera bags. They were paying absolutely no attention to what they were doing. There are also a pair of teenage girls that appear in almost half of my photos because they were standing shoulder to shoulder four feet out into the road, blocking everyone's view. I personally kept looking around to make sure I wasn't blocking anyone and wasn't bothering anyone, because that's the way I was raised. As countthis said, common courtesy isn't so common anymore.
