CCFR rescue boat crew assists kayaker in distress

JUNEAU — Capital City Fire/Rescue personnel hit the water in a rescue boat Sunday to assist a 20-year-old man who tipped his kayak near the Mendenhall Glacier and was unable to get back inside. The incident happened at 7:26 p.m. Friends of the man went to his aid but still requested the boat to get the chilled man ashore. He was warmed up on shore and did not require medical assistance, according to CCFR Capt. Jack Cameron.
