Jim Trucano, left, Gus Degner, center, and Tim Crondahl of North Pacific Erectors work to demolish one of two staircase structures to the former pedestrian bridge at Mendenhall Loop Road and Trinity Drive on Wednesday. The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities took down the bridge portion of the structure in April after an oversized truck load splintered beams and rendered it unusable. The work should be done by the end of Friday.
