U.S. Attorney Karen L. Loeffler announced an Anchorage man was sentenced in federal court in Anchorage to 110 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute, distribution and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.

Tuesday, Jerry Bates II, 29, a resident of Anchorage, was sentenced by United States District Judge Timothy M. Burgess. Bates also received five years of supervised probation.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Yvonne Lamoureux, who prosecuted the case, said the defendant admitted between 2008 and 2010, he sold a variety of drugs, including crack cocaine, powder cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and oxycodone. In 2008 and 2009, Bates sold at least 50 grams of powder cocaine and at least 6 grams of crack cocaine. On Oct. 2, 2009, Bates sold 6.5 grams of actual methamphetamine. On Sept. 23, 2010, Bates sold heroin from his limousine. He was stopped by the Anchorage Police Department and in his limousine, Bates possessed 95.1 grams of heroin together with oxycodone tablets and other tablets with the intent to distribute those drugs. At the time of arrest, Bates had $6,255 cash and 27 gift cards.

The FBI Safe Streets Task Force and Anchorage Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the convictions in this case.

Quite The Rocket Scientist!

Sorry folks, I couldn't help but laugh when I read he was selling drugs from his limosine. Talk about keeping a low profile. Too funny. He must be quite the rocket scientist. Ha! Guess the drugs made him null and void. Even so... With that much drug activity, nine years seems kind of light.
