Deadline to register to vote is Sept. 4

The Juneau League of Women Voters and City and Borough of Juneau would like to remind Juneau voters that the deadline to register to vote in the Oct. 4 elections is Sept. 4.

If one is not registered to vote, there is still time. One must be registered 30 days before the municipal election.  People can register at the Juneau Municipal Offices, at the local public libraries, and at the Region I Elections Office in the Mendenhall Mall. In addition, if one has business with the Department of Motor Vehicles, one may register to vote there.  Prospective voters may also download a registration form at http://bit.ly/97bsm7. This Web page includes information about the requirements for registration. Once the form is completed, it can be dropped off at any of the above locations or faxed directly to the Division of Elections, Region I Office at 465-2289.

The League says, “Voting is absolutely essential to a democracy.”
