SAGA searches for new directors

There are some leadership changes happening at SAGA.

Scott Young is now the interim executive director. He has been the director of programs for more than three years.

Young is the interim replacement for Joe Parrish, who Young said was there for 25 years. Neither he nor Board Chairman Matt Smith could discuss the particulars of Parrish’s departure.

SAGA is also searching for a new finance director to replace Jenifer Shapland. Details on her departure were also not available.

SAGA is a nonprofit dedicated to helping youth make connections between what they learn and how they live. Young said its name used to stand for “Southeast Alaska Guidance Association” but only goes by SAGA now since the organization has projects around the state.
