Henry’s Food & Spirits at Mendenhall Mall is going under new ownership. The restaurant was closed on Tuesday but a sign there states new hours will be posted later this week.
I'm not in your party, as I can't be easily classified by a two-party system.
Change is good.
The breakfast there was almost unedible last time my family went in. Hopefully the new owners can raise the standards of the place. Good luck!
I haven't eaten at Henry's in years. The food was just awful the last two times I tried eating there.
Valley Restaurant gets my business when I'm in the mood for diner fare. Or the Sandpiper when I'm downtown.
I hope the new owners create a more modern atmosphere and actually invest some time, effort and money into developing a quality restaurant and bar. The Valley is BEGGING for a great, hip hang out. Please, please, please don't mess this up!
If the location just changes hands and opens again with the same old junk, you won't find me there, ever. I think I'm not alone here.
People in the valley are looking for something other than the status quo. There are two other truck stop cuisine type venues in the valley. The previous bloggers are right. Keep it the same and be doomed. Too many bad meals there make people leary of a simple change of hands. We need a full on transformation to lure us back.
Perhaps its time for something healthy, innovative, and capable of bringing in a crowd. Update that place and make good food. People will show up. Build it and they will come !
just knowing it has changed hands makes me want to eat there...I also know the new owners run a tight ship..i hope they serve a good monty cristo...all truck stops down south have them, they are so so good for brek lunch and dinner...i had buicuit and gravy at onnas im sure u all know what resturant im talkin about, i left hungry and the gravy was cold.they should have gave it to me 4 free or half price..but,everytime we eat at valley res,i always leave happy..i also hope they make secluded seating at henry;s,people like privacy.secluded seating and good food goes good together....there is alot of political people here that want privacy..........
Make is like the Sandpiper Restaurant with good food, fresh ingredients and they will come in flocks.. Valley needs a GOOD restaurant. The "other" family one in the Valley is terrible. And perhaps serve "good" coffee?
Hope the quality improves.
I have only eaten in the place a few times since it opened and the only reason I went back there after the first time is someone else wanted to go. What Kind of dinner doesn't have Biscuits and Gravy and good B & G at that. (Never mind just my disappointment last time I went.) I hope the new owners are cooks first and business people second. I know if I can every figure out how to open a restraunt here I would be so happy and so would Juneau. I am a cook first then a customer service expert then a businessman. New owners of Henris' remember happy customers come back.
I have had bad food at various places here, surprisingly bad food. The bar isn't very high for rising above the norm and just doing it right. I rarely have eaten at Henry's, it isn't the worst food in town, though. How about a place that serves chili? Henry's had a chiliburger but could not serve me a bowl of chili instead.
The big question is will Juneau support a quality restaurant? It seems we would have something better going on here by now if it could. I would think a valley restaurant could do better than the ones downtown if it tried.
This is good news. The valley desperately needs a good restaurant. Hopefully this fills the bill.
I have ate there lots of times and there food has been great most of the time. If the food was not good the owner made it right. I am not sure who the new owner is but I hope they keep it close to what was there.
"I have ate there"? Really? Good lord, pappassporster.
I would rate this only slightly worse than the all-too-common, "I seen it." People need to decide whether they intend to use the present perfect or past tense; it is not befitting to waddle around clumsily between the two.
