State literacy group hosts development institute in Juneau

The Alaska State Literacy Association is hosting a professional development institute Oct. 17-18 in Juneau. Marcia Invernizzi, co-author of “Words Their Way” and the Phonological Awareness and Literacy Screening (PALS), is one of the keynote speakers. The theme, Digging Deeper: Mining for Meaning, focuses presentations on building student cognition across all content areas through comprehension strategies and vocabulary development.
