City to test fire hydrants

The City and Borough of Juneau Water Utility began its annual fire hydrant flow testing on Monday.

The work began in Douglas and will move to the downtown area, then to the hospital area, proceeding to the Mendenhall Valley areas and beyond. The testing will take approximately three weeks to complete and is expected to be concluded by Oct. 7.

During this time customers may experience discolored water. To clear the water, run the cold water faucet until it runs clear.

For more information, contact the Water Utility Office at 780-6888; for after-hours emergencies, call 586-2165.
