ADF&G ends mountain goat season early in Unit 1C

The Alaska Department of Fish & Game has announced an early closure to the mountain goat season in the Davies Creek to Antler River portion of Unit 1C. The season in the area closes at 11:59 p.m Wednesday.

Based on survey information, a guideline harvest of six points, with male goats being worth one point and female goats being worth two, was established for the area. As of Tuesday, the reported harvest is two female goats and one male goat. Given that two female goats have already been taken out of the area, it is considered necessary to close the area to prevent the additional harvest of female goats.

All other mountain goat hunting regulations in Unit 1C remain unchanged.
