Juneau corp. named one of 100 best accounting firms to work for

If you’ve meet a happy certified public accountant lately, chances are they work for Elgee Rehfeld Mertz, LLC.

The Juneau-based accounting firm recently earned the title of one of the 100 Best Accounting Firms to Work For in 2011. The list is compiled annually by the magazine Accounting Today and Best Companies Group.

This survey and award program was designed to identify and honor the best places of employment in the accounting field, benefiting the nation’s economy, its workforce and businesses.

Convergence Coaching, a marketing consulting firm for CPAs, describes the honor as “identifying and recognizing the best employers in the tax and accounting profession. This ranking is recognized as a great honor for firms and a significant competitive advantage for organizations that make the list.”

Accounting firms from across the country entered the two-part survey process to determine the 100 top firms to work for.

Part one consisted of an evaluation of each nominated firm’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part judges workplace experience through employees’ description of company leadership and planning, culture and communication, role satisfaction, work environment, training and development, pay and benefits and overall engagement. The combined scores determined the top 100 firms.

Elgee Rehfeld Mertz, LLC is the largest accounting firm in Southeast Alaska. It provides compliance, accounting and advisory services to more than 1,100 clients in both the public and private sectors.
