The state Department of Transportation & Public Facilities on Thursday closed part of Engineer’s Cutoff Road for the winter.
The road provides an alternate access to Fritz Cove Road, but that road can still be reached by Glacier Highway.
The road closes every winter, said Greg Patz, maintenance superintendent. It is steep and not maintained during the winter.
