Hunter medevaced from Admiralty Island

A Juneau man was medevaced from Hawk Inlet on Admiralty Island Sunday after apparently being accidentally shot, according to a release from the Alaska State Troopers.

Jason Lindley, 25, was flown from the island about 15 miles southwest of Juneau to Bartlett Regional Hospital for treatment of what AST called “significant internal injuries” following a gunshot wound to his back. Lindley’s wounds are not believed to be life-threatening, however. He has been flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for further care.

An AST investigation indicated Lindley was hunting with two other people. He and one of the hunters went to a separate area when the third fired a large-caliber rifle at what he believed to be a deer, striking Lindley.
