Add commentWow, Juneau is really patting
Wow, Juneau is really patting themselves on the back for donating thousands of cans of creamed corn, baked beans, pears, and tomatoe sauce. Now, anyone who needs food, don't go in there looking too desperate or the people giving the food out will pick up on it and treat you like you're a piece of gargage for needing to ask for food and they will hardly give you anything. I mean, you should be like them, fat, rich, and happy.
Wow:
I wonder if that brain is the size of a grape.
grapegertrude, What did you
grapegertrude,
What did you donate?
grapegertrude
Wow....just wow. That's not how it works at the food bank at all. They are amazing people and they don't "treat you like you're a piece of gargage for needing to ask for food".
Darren - you're doing a great job, an important job, and I thank you very, very much!!
WOW:
Grapegertrude,
Spend less time criticizing other's good deeds and go back to school to learn how to spell.
Grapegertrude is obviously a
Grapegertrude is obviously a graduate of Dan Quayle Elementary School.
This is a wonderful story.
I'm glad to see these kinda stories in the Empire.
It truly warms my heart to see others helping out the less fortunate specially around the holiday season.
I remember when I was in med school we used to have a food drive. Now, not many of the students had much money but they did donate a lot of ramon and chef boyardee.
Grapegertrude but more importantly Darren
Darren and your team -- this was quite an accomplishment particularly in a community as small as Juneau. Do not let uneducated idiotic comments change the good work you and your team accomplished. "Thousands of cans of creamed corn, baked beans, pears, and tomatoe [sic] sauce" will keep many, many mouths from going hungry. It's unfortunate that even in the light of a community coming together at such a rough time people feel the need to complain. Feel free to give live on the ice fields along grapegertrude.
Keep up the great work Darren!
Proud of all that you do for the community! Mark
Hope you're never hungry
Grapegertrude,
you are rude! I can't believe what you are saying. I volunteer at the SE AK Foodbank, and we never judge anyone, always hand out all the food that we have, we make sure families with children get milk when we have it, we've never judged, never treated anyone like a piece of garbage. I've been on both sides of the table, needing food and now because they were there for me in a time of need I'm giving back to those that are in need. I donated food that I went out and bought. I didn't clean out my cupboards grabbing what was old. You are pathetic and I hope you are never hungry and need help.
Darren and the rest of the volunteers work tirelessly. Darren is picking up donations from local grocery stores on a daily basis. He works very hard for this community. Looks like you need to volunteer in this community and see what its like.
Sucky attitude grapegertude!
Really!! Darren and all the others at the Southeast FoodBank are the nicest, helpful, caring people! AWESOME job!!
Thank you
Thank you to Sharon, the Community Council members, and all the other individuals who have gone the extra mile to help put food on the table this winter!
I am very happy with Juneau
Juneau really does allot for the hungry and the sick. I am very happy to be living in Juneau. I know if I ever need the help the people of Juneau is here to help me. Thank You Juneau
SourGrapeGertrude
So, hotshot, what have YOU done for your community lately?
GrapeGertty...Darren is
GrapeGertty...Darren is anything but fat, rich and happy! Well, he's not rich anyway!
food bank
Grapegertrude,
My name is Darren Adams and I'm the manager and sole employee of the SE AK Food Bank. I work seven days a week to make sure that the food bank is run professionally, and always has an adequate amount of food to hand out to people. We distribute food six days a week, all year long.
I don't know who you are, but I would strongly encourage you to come out to the food bank any Saturday morning when we hand out food, and see for yourself how we interact with the public. Everyone is treated with respect, and we have a good time interacting with everyone who comes here. Some people come by because they need the food, others come in because they need a place to be. Either way, we greet everyone with a smile, and treat them with respect.
It takes someone big to make slanderous comments anonymously the way you did. You should be proud of yourself for putting a little bit of a damper on what was otherwise a very positive experience. I think that the comments that followed your comment proved you wrong.
If you, or anyone one else has any questions or concerns about the way the food bank operates, please feel free to contact me at 209-7801. I suspect you will not, because you're most likely embarassed of your actions, but please know that you can if you choose to. Thank you.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
And everyone else: thank you for your support.
Grapegertrude...........
What you said was inflammatory, unconscienable, and wrong. What you need to know about Darren's reaction to those comments is this:
Even though you spewed venom all over what was otherwise and amazing community event, even though you disparaged him and his character and the food bank he works so hard to sustain......
He will still be there for you in your time of need. He will help you load boxes, carry them to your car, and make sure that you have enough to sustain you. He will let you know the foodbank hours of operation so that you can return and he will open the door again for you. Thats who Darren Adams is.... Who are you?
Grapegertrude
Grapegertrude,
Let's not get carried away here.
Sometimes asking for help yourself is a hard task, easier to put others down to make yourself feel superior. Find no shame in asking for help, It's what makes a community a community.
I hope the good Lord blesses over you and your family this Holiday Season.
-D,
E.S
