If you missed Sealaska Heritage Institute’s lecture this week, you can now watch it online. SHI is hosting a lecture series during Native Alaska Heritage Month in November.
Thursday’s lecture featured Edward Thomas, president of the Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indians of Alaska and a director on Sealaska Corp.’s board.
Thomas gave a talk about the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act titled “The Interrelationships Between Tribes and Corporations.”
“I think you will have to admit that ANCSA was one of the biggest and most aggressive settlements in the Nation when it comes to aboriginal lands and the rights of the Native American people,” Edward Thomas said.
