The International Pacific Halibut Commission will webcast a briefing on its stock assessment and preliminary recommended catch limits for 2012.
The webcast is open to the public. However, in-person attendance at the meeting is still limited to invited agency personnel. The meeting will be held at noon on Wednesday.
Final action on catch limits will be made at the commission’s annual meeting, Jan. 24-27, 2012 in Anchorage. This announcement will impact both the commercial and charter sectors, according to a Halibut Coalition release.
The commission will have available commercial seafood industry members to discuss preliminary catch limits for 2012. These industry members include Linda Behnken, executive director and fisherman, Alaska Longline Fisherman’s Association, Kathy Hansen, executive director and fisherman, Southeast Alaska Fishermen’s Alliance and Julianne Curry, executive director, Petersburg Vessel Owners Association and fisherman
The commission will also webcast a presentation on 2011 research projects and proposed projects for the future from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
