With more room on the showroom floor for display and extra space in the back for stock, Juneau’s new OfficeMax aims to send customers home with the item they want and prevent the long wait times associated with shipping out of stock items to Alaska.
Office Max plans to open its new location in the Nugget Mall in mid-February, said Nicole Miller, manager of public relations for Office Max. The company is planning a store opening celebration “with details coming,” she said.
Miller said the office supply store does not have an entry directly into Nugget Mall.
“There will be one exterior opening,” she said.
The approximately 17,000-square-foot store will include a stock room that is larger than is typical for an OfficeMax store with an similarly expanded furniture room to hold more inventory, Miller said. With the longer lead time for shipping orders to Alaska, Office Max wanted more product on site for people to pick from, she said.
Juneau’s Office Max is now hiring for 30 positions, including supervisor positions and 24 full-time and part-time sales associate positions. Interviews start on Dec. 5 at the Nugget Mall. For more employment information visit www.jobs.officemax.com.

Add commentLocation, location, location? Of Officemax?
So which end of the mall is it going to be located? Seems as if it would be mentioned in the story?
For one - the mall is not
For one - the mall is not that big, so I'm sure you'll be able to find it. And also - if you've actually been to the mall anytime within the last 5 years or so, you would know that one end is occupied by Joanne's, and the other end has several empty slots - it's safe to assume that's the end it will be located at.
Not so fast
I've not been in Juneau in a number of years, that is why I asked. Where I'm living there are a few different sizes of OfficeMax, so I really have no idea. I don't think it's safe to assume anything these days or ever!
Really.. serious?
What is up with all the hate.. its just an officemax, dont you know location is everything.. ha ha ha .. who is calling who and idiot NOW !!!
I was not quite sure how to respond
Thanks peoplesvoice, I was thinking somebody might be having a bad day.
Juneau is a great community and whether I ever live there again I hope to return many times. I'm accustom to being trashed. I hate the trashing, but must love the trasher. Peace!
