Fire and medical reports from Friday and Saturday

• At 1:02 a.m. Friday, a man received EMS care on Sharon street. He was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital.

• At 2:16 a.m. Friday, a man was taken from BRH by an outside agency.

• At 6:09 a.m. Friday, a man received basic life support care on Glacier Highway. He was taken to BRH

• At 6:20 a.m. Friday, a man received basic life support care on Front Street. He was taken to BRH.

• At 12:45 p.m. Friday, Capital City Fire and Rescue responded to a structure fire on Mendenhall Loop Road. The fire was extinguished. There were no injuries.

• At 12:59 p.m. Friday, a woman received EMS care on Stephen Richards Memorial Drive. She was taken to BRH.

• At 1:30 p.m. Friday, a person received EMS care on John Street. The person was taken to BRH.

• At 1:56 p.m. Friday, CCFR responded to a fire alarm on Franklin Street. There was no fire.

• At 1:17 a.m. Saturday, CCFR responded to a fire alarm on Commercial Boulevard. There was no fire.

• At 2:16 a.m. Saturday, CCFR responded to a fire alarm on Gastineau Avenue. There was no fire. The alarm had been pulled maliciously.

• At 4:45 a.m. Saturday, a woman received EMS care on Third Street. She was taken to BRH.

• At 8:17 a.m. Saturday, CCFR responded to a non-injury vehicle accident on Douglas Highway.

• At 8:31 a.m. Saturday, CCFR responded to an emergency medical incident on glacier Highway. The patient declined transport.

• At 11:54 a.m. Saturday, a man received EMS care on Fourth Street. He was taken to BRH.

• At 2:34 p.m. Saturday, a man received advanced life support care on Salmon Creek Lane. He was taken to BRH.

• At 6:55 p.m. Saturday, a minor received advanced life support care on Steep Place. The minor was taken to BRH.

• At 11:27 p.m. Saturday, a man received EMS care on Franklin Street.

This Day in Juneau History: Jan. 19, 1987

On Jan. 19, 1987, with revenues half of what they were the year before and an estimated budget deficit ranging from $700-$900 million, the 15th Alaska Legislature began working on the state’s enormous budget deficit. Everyone was present for the Legislature’s first day except for Sen. Frank Ferguson, D-Kotzebue, who resigned shortly after his election because of health problems. Taking his place was Kotzebue businessman and Native leader Willie Hensley, whom Gov. Steve Cowper appointed for the position until the 1988 elections.
