A winter storm watch was canceled for Juneau, but National Weather Service forecasters say this will be a wet and windy couple of days. Expect 3 to 5 inches of rain by Friday with 1 to 2 feet of snow in the higher elevations during the same period.
Remember to keep blankets, flashlights and other emergency supplies in vehicles if traveling and to be prepared for winter driving conditions, particularly if traveling to Eaglecrest Ski Area or other points of higher elevation. A southeast wind will gust between 25 and 40 mph by Thursday night with 50 mph gusts possible.
Waves on the inner channels may reach 5 to 10 feet while forecasters say seas offshore may see waves in the 20- to 30-foot range Thursday into Friday.
The Empire will update this story should conditions change. Forecasters recomend checking weather reports for updates.
