Truck found under power pole - driver gone

Police responding to a report of a rollover accident Thursday night on the 21000 block of Glacier Avenue had no trouble finding the vehicle — but they’re still looking for the driver.

At 9:35 p.m., a caller told police that a vehicle had rolled onto its side and was resting against a power pole. Responding officers said the unoccupied 2006 Ford pickup, which had crossed from the outbound lane across the inbound lane and into the ditch, snapped the pole. The truck was totaled.

Power was shut off for a brief period while Alaska Electric Light & Power employees removed the power pole from the vehicle.

Police say their investigation into this case is ongoing.
