The Juneau Chamber of Commerce, the Juneau Yacht Club, the Juneau Radio Center and the CBJ Docks and Harbors announced the following winners of the 2011 Christmas Boat Lighting contest, which was judged between December 22 and Dec. 24.
Fifteen recreational vessels and four commercial vessels participated in the inaugural event in the Harris, Douglas, Statter and Fisherman’s Bend harbors.
Three prizes were awarded each in the recreational and commercial categories. Winners will be contacted by the Juneau Chamber of Commerce for prizes.
Commercial prizes:
First Prize - Chan III/Matt Cole/Harris - $250 Willie’s Marine Gift Certificate and $100.
Second Prize - Sea Ranger/Neil Voelckers/Statter - $100 Petro Marine Gift Certificate and $75.
Third Prize Perseverance/Larry Larson/Aurora -$60 Suzie Salon Gift Certificate and $50.
Recreational prizes:
First Prize - Lady Irene/Dan Gowdy/Aurora - $250 Willie Marine Gift Certificate and $100.
Second Prize -Kerry/Crystal Fawcett/Aurora -$100 Don Able Gift Certificate and $75.
Third Prize - Glacier Bear/Budd Simpson/Douglas - $60 Bike Tune-Up at Cycle AK and $50.
Judges included Assembly member Ruth Danner, Tara Harris of Willies Marine, Tim McLeod of AEL&P and the Juneau Chamber of Commerce board, U.S. Coast Guard Sector Deputy Commander Matt Jones, Brian Holst of JEDC, Mindy Rowland of First Things First and the Juneau Chamber and Renee Hughes of the Friends of Alaska State Museums.
Organizers say they hope to make the contest a bigger Juneau holiday tradition in the future.

There was one cool boat in Aurora all lit up with blue lights which was cool.
