Man dies in Friday shooting

UPDATE:
Police have identified the man who shot a woman then himself as Bradley James Mauch, 42.

 

Police say a Juneau man is dead after shooting a woman then shooting himself Friday evening.

The Juneau Police Department said in a release they received a 911 call from a woman who reported she had been shot inside a residence in the 9000 block of Stephen Richards Memorial Drive around 11 p.m. Friday.

Responding officers found a 42-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her abdomen at the house and a 42-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the release. Capital City Fire and Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene.

The woman was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, the release stated.

Police believe the man assaulted the woman then shot himself, according to the release.

An investigation is ongoing.
