An 18-year-old Sitka woman reportedly walked away unscathed from a single vehicle rollover accident on Glacier Highway just past noon on Monday.

Juneau Police Department said in a Tuesday release that the Sitka resident was the vehicle’s only occupant at the time of the crash, and that she did not sustain any injuries.

Police did not release the woman’s name.

A police investigation found that the woman was traveling on Glacier Highway outbound and drove over the hill by the Juneau Pioneer Home at a speed that was too fast for the icy road conditions.

She lost control of her vehicle, went over the curb into the inbound lane, then slid down an embankment. The vehicle was upside down when it hit the muddy bottom.

The vehicle, which sustained an estimated $2,000 to $3,000 in damage to the passenger side and roof, was privately towed from the scene. The woman was cited for basic speed.
