NWS: Winter storm warning begins tonight

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Juneau area beginning at 6 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 24..

Forecasters are predicting snowfall totals to reach eight inches overnight with an additional three to four inches falling Wednesday morning.The NWS stated snowfall rates could exceed one inch per hour at times. Storm totals could reach one foot in areas.

According to a release, the winter storm warning will remain in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25. The NWS stated they will update this warning by 6 p.m. tonight, or earlier if conditions warrant.
