Applications available for the Girls on Ice 2012 science expeditions

Girls on Ice, a free mountaineering adventure and learning experience for high school girls, is coming to Alaska. Organizers are looking for applicants from diverse locations around the state. A team of nine teenage girls and three instructors will spend 11 days exploring and learning about mountain glaciers and alpine landscapes through scientific field studies with professional glaciologists and mountaineers. The Alaska event is scheduled for July 15-25. Applications are due March 1. See girlsonice.org.
