The Career Connections program of SERRC — Alaska’s Educational Resource Center brings students from around the state to Juneau to job-shadow at a wide variety of work sites over a one-week period.
Open to 11th- and 12th-grade students, Career Connections places students at work sites in a field of their interest, explores related careers and higher education opportunities, and prepares students for the world of work.
During the one-week session, students will stay at the Juneau Youth Hostel, job-shadow at work sites, participate in field trips to a variety of work sites, and attend career exploration classes.
Career Connections will hold two sessions in 2012 – April 9-13 and April 16-21. Tuition for students is $650 plus airfare to Juneau. Students must be accompanied by a teacher and/or a chaperone (five students to one adult per school site). Tuition for accompanying adults is $450 plus airfare. Tuition covers the cost of the program, transportation in Juneau, food and accommodations.
