City meetings for the week of Feb. 6-12

Monday

• The Assembly Public Works & Facilities Committee will meet at noon in Assembly Chambers.

• The Building Code Advisory Committee will meet at 5 p.m. in the Downtown Fire Hall.

• The Assembly Lands Committee will meet at 5 p.m. in Assembly Chambers.

• The Eaglecrest Long Term Planning Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the PND Inc. Offices 9360 Glacier Hwy, 1st Floor.

• The Juneau Human Rights Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall Conference Room 224.

Tuesday

• The Juneau School District Board of Education will meet at 6:15 p.m. in the Juneau-Douglas High School Library. On the agenda are adoption of the school calendar (spring break or no?), superintendent evaluation and revision of the indirect costs policy. It also will have a worksession at 4:30 p.m. on Equity in the Schools.

Wednesday

• The Juneau Local Emergency Planning Committee will meet at noon in the Bartlett Regional Hospital Administrative Board Room.

• The Airport Board will meet at 6 p.m. in the Airport Alaska Room.

Thursday

• The BRH Board of Directors Planning Committee will meet at noon in the BRH Administrative Board Room.

• The Fiscal Policy Review Task Force will meet at 4 p.m. in City Hall Conference Room 224.

This day in Juneau history: Feb. 19

On Feb. 19, 1987, Gov. Steve Cowper and the Alaska Legislature formed a budget plan for the upcoming year. The House Finance Committee passed a bill giving Gov. Cowper permission to spend the $428 million reserve fund, and representatives described meetings with Gov. Cowper “wonderful”.
