The ferry MV Matanuska has canceled its Skagway port call for today, Feb. 6, due to a mechanical issue. Pending a successful repair, Matanuska is expected to arrive in Haines at 6 p.m., returning to schedule with an 8:45 p.m. departure to Juneau. Is it just me or does it seem the ferry's are breaking down more than usual lately?

Seems like every week another ferry is down. Not surprising given most of the fleet is at least 30 years old. Road's not looking so bad now, is it?
Breakdowns
I've said it once before,age (could) be a factor,but lax maintenance could also contribute to the breakdowns.Seems to me there are more breakdowns during the slow winter months than during peak summer months.Curious???/
