JPD conducts controlled heroin buy

A 20-year-old Juneau man was arrested Tuesday by the Juneau Police Department for allegedly dealing heroin.

According to charging documents, Stephen D. Costello was caught selling three bags of heroin to a police informant for $200 on March 3.

He was arraigned in Juneau District Court on Wednesday on one count of second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, a class ‘A’ felony that can carry up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

District Court Judge Thomas Nave appointed the Public Defender’s Agency to represent Costello and maintained bail at $20,000. He is due in court next on March 16.
