Website commemorates War of 1812, national anthem

Beginning in April 2012 and continuing through 2015, the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard will commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the Star Spangled Banner.

The Navy has partnered with the International Council of Air Shows, the Navy League, the Naval Historical Foundation, and Operation Sail to create events around the country. Additionally, organizers have created a website to learn about the War of 1812 and the writing of “The Star Spangled Banner.” It includes multimedia experiences, activities, games, and lesson plans.
