Trial date set for man charged with abusing minor

Ronald Blue in Juneau Superior Court for his arraignment on charges of sexual abuse of a minor on Thursday.

A Juneau man indicted on seven counts of sexual abuse of a minor appeared at his arraignment in Juneau Superior Court Thursday.

Ronald W. Blue, 38, entered a not guilty plea through Assistant Public Defender David Seid, though Seid told the judge Sitka Assistant Public Defender Jude Pate would be lead counsel in the case.

Judge Philip Pallenberg scheduled a two-week trial to begin June 4. A pretrial hearing was set for May 24 and an omnibus hearing was set for April 17.

Blue was indicted by a grand jury on the seven counts last Friday. According to charging documents filed by the district attorney’s office, Blue turned himself in to the Juneau Police Department in mid-February, a few days after one of the alleged victim’s family members called JPD to report the abuse.

Blue is currently being held at Lemon Creek Correctional Center in lieu of $250,000 bail.
