Access to the University of Alaska Southeast via the Glacier Highway entrance will be limited to the Hendrickson and Soboloff buildings starting Monday.
Cutting Edge Development will begin construction on a new cul-de-sac and bike path. The company said the project will restrict throughfare access indefinitely.
Access to all other campus facilities will be open through Back Loop Road and Auke Lake Way.

Add commentThis is stupid.
Anyone coming from any direction other than Back Loop or Auke Bay will have to drive an extra mile to get to the campus, or 2 extra miles on a round trip. How is this helping anyone?
It's not like drivers take a short cut through the campus. If the problem is the corner below Chapel By The Lake, why did they build a footbridge at the old highway bridge location off the Auke Lake Wayside parking lot, instead of a road bridge?
It just shows how the University is all wrapped up in itself, and doesn't think about the community that surrounds it, and which it is supposed to serve.
I'm an alumnus, but I refuse to donate because of the ridiculous overadministration --- I don't want my donations to go to paying the inordinately high administrative salaries for the way too many bureaucrats. I'll leave money in my will for scholarships administered by the Juneau Community Foundation instead.
Money Should Go To Scholarships
Millions and millions of dollars going to an unneeded cul-de-sac, when that money could've sent HUNDREDS of students through four years of college.
I am with curmudgeon on this - I am also a UAS alumnus, but I don't donate to UAS, because they administration is bloated to the max.....and they pi$$ away money on unneeded items and administration.
