JPD looks into Sunday morning burglary

Posted: March 26, 2012 - 12:03am

The Juneau Police Department is investigating an early Sunday morning commercial burglary in downtown Juneau, a department spokesman said.

Lt. David Campbell confirmed in a phone interview Sunday afternoon that about $3,200 in cash and merchandise was stolen from Mystik Treasures, a novelty store in the 100 block of North Franklin Street.

Campbell said a witness to the crime called 911 around 1:30 a.m. and reported two suspects had burglarized the business. A release from the department stated responding officers found force was used to enter the business’ door and discovered cash and merchandise missing.

No one was in the store at the time of the burglary, Campbell said.

Reached by phone, store owner Sarah Graves didn’t have any comment.

The investigation into the case is ongoing, and police are actively pursuing leads, Campbell said, though he declined to elaborate further.

“Since we have a witness and we have some leads to work on, we don’t want to release too much information,” he said.

Campbell urged anyone with information about the burglary to call JPD at 500-0600 or to contact Juneau Crime Line at juneaucrimeline.com.

Earlier headline...

...stated that JPD "Investigates" the burglary. This update says JPD "Looks Into" the burglary.
Downgraded?

work of stoners?

I would never have guessed a couple stoners would put so much effort into stealing a bunch of bongs and pipes.

Iam sure stoners didnt rob

Iam sure stoners didnt rob the place, since they would have a lack of motivation. They ran off with a bunch of porn and dildos for thier all-nighter.

@skirkz

No downgrade. The word "investigating" was too long for a one-column headline in Monday's newspaper, hence "looks into."
