Cops arrest a drunken man walking down Franklin Street carrying three firearms, and shooting them in the air...and the theft of 350 gallons of heating oil is the "top crime of the week"?
Interesting priorities, especially since the oil theft might have occurred anytime in the past four weeks. I better not get a parking ticket or I could end up on the Empire's 'Most Wanted'.
They got the guy
They got the guy that carried the shotgn....crime of the week is looking for more information Lat....
These fuel thefts have been
These fuel thefts have been going on for a long time and as far as I know there has never been as suspect. How do you think several hundred gallons of heating fuel can be taken? Has to be someone with a tanker capable of suctioning out a lot of oil in a small amount of time.

Good point, Mama T
I parked downtown for about 30 minutes without paying, and without being caught, so I guess I qualify for Crime of the Week.
But I do hope they catch the scumbag stealing the fuel...
Perhaps
Perhaps it would be negligent to have citizens dealing with dangerous crimes, Lat. Having a bunch of regular people looking for armed drunks might not be in the best interest of the community.
I always wondered if
That stolen fuel was something that would be covered under homeowners insurance. If so, is there any chance that this is an insurance fraud that many different people are perpetrating?
"sad a citizen"
"Sgt. Paul Hatch sad a citizen from the 9000 block of North Douglas Highway called JPD..." -- spellcheck?
Think about this crime.
One jerry jug at a time that would amount to 70 syphons to extract 350 gallons. Each syphon taking up to 10 minutes. 10 minutes x 70 = 700 minutes. 700 minutes / 60 minutes (1 hour) = 11hours 40 minutes worth of effort. Wow!
or
Did the oil man deliver to wrong address? Is there a leak? Was there still 350 gallons in the tank or was this the original fill-up amount? If not, what are the probabilities?
I'm sorry somebody is missing fuel oil and that is just wrong but I have to wonder if there is more to this story.
What is amazing to me is these mystery thieves
almost never get caught so you have to wonder why.
Oil man
How often does someone check to make sure they were delivered the amount they ordered ?
heating oil thefts
Yes, these heating oil thefts have been going on for a few months in the Ninemile Creek area. I hope they're caught soon too.
I can't wait...
...until public urination is crime of the week.
Well, from what I could
Well, from what I could gather the Juneau Crime Line is a volunteer non-profit organization which has no paid employees and relies on donations for its funding and volunteer work for its function.
What most of you are saying is that a crime of the week is either bull... or the reward is too small, or public urination has to be the crime of the week.
There is contact information available on juneaucrimeline.com and all of you who are not happy with how they operate can freely contact them, donate $10,000 or whatever you claim is effective as far as reward money and join the organization and do your damage there, or benefit your community if you want, or whatever makes you happy.
Funny how people keep mouthing off on issues they do not research or have no idea about. It took me 3 minutes to go on Juneau Crime Line website and see what they are about..
If you want to help the Juneau community, then go ahead and help. If not, just relax and don't say stupid things in public.
stealing oil
just a word to the thief.you should stop
Off-topic, McNamara, we re
Off-topic, McNamara, we re all sooo tired of your comments on every article here :)) You always gotta pitch in a wad of your bull..., whatever the topic is. Seems like everyone is knee deep in your bull... already, come on now. You (almost always) sound pathetic and really lonely, poor you. It is pretty funny to see your trash talk on every darn article. You must not understand how ridiculous you sound, and you don't listen to when people tell you about it. Are you unhappy with your life? Or maybe you just have too much free time and don't have to work for a living? :)))) Either way, you crack most of the readership up. Really goes for Latitude 58 as well. No offense, just simple observation.
burger
if you have done these unforgiveable crimes.you should just plead guilty.

God bless the First Amendment. Why do you hate freedom and America so much?
But thanks for resorting to name calling. You add so much to the discussion.
