Ketchikan student among 6 Alaskan semifinalists for presidential awards

Six Alaskan seniors are among the 550 semifinalists in the 2012 Presidential Scholars Program. They are: Rowan Kraft of West Anchorage High School; Anna Miller of Steller Secondary School in Anchorage; Brigit Noon of West Valley High School in Fairbanks; Alec Pankow of Ketchikan High School; Thomas Troxel of West Anchorage High School; and Jonathan Walther of Dimond High School in Anchorage.

Up to 121 academic students and 20 arts students will be chosen as U.S. Presidential Scholars. They are selected for their accomplishments in academics, the arts, leadership, and school and community involvement. See 1.usa.gov/HTm6ON and www.youngarts.org.
