Jan Neimeyer's art class at Thunder Mountain High School has decked out VANS shoes again this year and is vying for top votes in a national contest.
Out of 900 entries into the contest, 50 pairs were selected by a panel of judges and Thunder Mountain's entries made the finals.
If the students' shoes win, that would bring in $50,000 to the Thunder Mountain High School Art program. Then the finalists will be flown to Los Angeles for an exclusive final event at the Long Beach Museum of Art.
To vote for TMHS just go to www.vans.com/customculture/vote/ and select Thunder Mountain
High School under the Northwest Region column. Voting runs from April 20 to May 3 from each unique IP address.
TMHS urges support from Alaskans to help get the word out, as it is with other cities with large populations.
Vans Custom Culture art program inspires high school students across the United States to embrace their creativity and draw attention to the importance of art as an integral part of our school’s focus in the face of shrinking budgets. This is the third year of the contest.
