Man arrested downtown after early a.m. fight

A 28-year-old man was arrested early Saturday morning in connection to a downtown fight that left one man unconscious.

The victim, also 28, was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Police said in a release that an officer heard a disturbance in the area of Main Street and Egan Drive around 3:50 a.m. The officer found a man lying unconscious on the pavement with several people standing around him.

Further investigation revealed the suspect, Brandon Johnson, was still in the area. Police located and contacted Johnson, and he admitted to being in an altercation with the victim, according to the release.

Johnson was arrested on suspicion of one count of second-degree assault. That’s a class ‘B’ felony that can carry up to 10 years in prison. Police say alcohol was a factor in the altercation.
