Driver rolls vehicle on Egan, sustains non-life threatening injuries

A 42-year-old driver who police say was distracted and took his eyes off the road rolled his vehicle on Egan Drive on Monday afternoon. The driver, whose name wasn’t released, was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police said in a release they responded to the crash at the 8-mile mark of Egan at about 3:12 p.m.

An investigation determined the distracted driver drove off the shoulder of the road and struck a light pole. He then over-corrected, driving across both inbound lanes of Egan Drive. The vehicle rolled onto its side in the median, the release said.

The vehicle was totaled, and the driver was cited with negligent driving, according to the release.

The accident shut down one inbound and one outbound lane of Egan Drive for about 30 minutes.
