Great project

I think that the Bioblitz is a great idea. Young people may be amazed to find out what goes on in the real, living, biological world around them.
I think for local students to combine the scientific knowledge they acquire with the cultural knowledge the Tlingit elders have and learn some new words would also be great.

I highly recommend a book published by the Forest Service.
"Our Food Is Our Tlingit Way Of Life" excerpts from oral interviews by Richard G. Newton and Modonna Moss, revised edition 2005. Pages 40 through 48 give the nutritional value of Tlingit foods and and Tlingit names for the foods and there is even a CD disk for the pronunciation of the names. I think the booklet and disk are available at a local Forest Service office.
In the main part of the book, parents can learn how to gather and prepare local foods.
