Click It or Ticket

The Juneau Police Department will be on the lookout for unbuckled drivers and passengers this Memorial Day weekend.

Lt. David Campbell said in a release that JPD will be participating in the statewide Click It or Ticket campaign, which began May 20 and ends June 3.

The release states the City and Borough of Juneau Municipal Code imposes a $35 fine, with an additional $10 surcharge, to seatbelt violators.

If cited under state statute, violators can face a fine of $50, with the same surcharge, according to the release.

Campbell said during the campaign, additional JPD officers will be on the road looking for people who aren’t buckled up.
