Grand jury issues 2 indictments Friday

A Juneau grand jury handed up two indictments on Friday.

Joseph A.S. Allen, 29, was indicted on one count of first-degree burglary for unlawfully breaking into a woman’s house on Oct. 26, 2011, according to the indictment.

That’s a class ‘B’ felony that can carry up to 10 years in prison.

Donna M. Murphy, 46, was indicted on one count of felony driving while under the influence for allegedly operating a vehicle while under the influence on May 27 in Haines, while having two or more prior convictions within the past 10 years.

Felony driving under the influence is a class ‘C’ felony that can carry up to five years in prison.

Additionally, Murphy was indicted on one count of felony refusal to submit to chemical test. That’s also a class ‘C’ felony.

Indictments are formal accusations of illegal activity, not convictions.

The district attorney’s office presents cases to the grand jury each Friday.
