Heroin dealer gets 2 years

2 felonies dismissed

Posted: June 4, 2012 - 12:01am

A 26-year-old Juneau man was sentenced last week to serve two years in prison for dealing heroin. Juneau Superior Court Judge Philip Pallenberg sentenced Christopher J.P. Waterhouse on May 24 to six years in prison with four years suspended, in accordance with a plea agreement reached with prosecutors.

The plea agreement also required Waterhouse to be on supervised probation three years after his release from prison, and to pay $400 in restitution for the drug buy money.

Waterhouse pleaded guilty to a reduced charge, attempted second-degree drug misconduct, in March.

He was originally charged with three felonies, but the other two were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

Prosecutors said he sold 0.5 grams of heroin on Nov. 28 and 29 of last year.

...

The only way I see this happening is if the prosecution was short on evidence, witnesses, or he has powerful friends/family. Oh well, I'm sure these two years will turn into four, then six.

I do love looking these people up on their FB!

Favorite quote: May you spend two hours in heaven before the devil knows your gone.

Just FYI, Christopher, you have the quote wrong. Change the last word to "dead". That would be the actual quote. You're really lucky you're not "dead" from doing this crap. Or one of your clients for that matter.

light sentence

Six years with four suspended.

He got a nice deal.

Even if it was only 1/2 gram, any amount of heroin in Juneau is bad, and anyone dealing it once probably has done so before.

I wish there were a way to make the plea bargain conditional that they never return or live in Juneau again.

Two Years

Two Years minus time for good behavior equals A very light sentence. You do the math.

I think I went to high school with this guy.

Let's just legalize this stuff. It seems kind of stupid to declare war on abstract concepts and inanimate objects.

@PP "???"

Did you just post "legalize this stuff" in exasperation? How long do you suppose it would take for the FDA to approve the heroin recipe or recommended dosage for legal heroin? And that's just supposing that Obama appoints a Choom Czar to oversee the regulation of Safe Smack.

y'all got opinions

Story's about a local horse dealer...and look at all ya comments. Y'all sit and complain about DC and how many posts did it take to get there? Not even ten? It isn't about cleaning up the community. It isn't about helping others. It isn't about any of that. It's about making sure everyone sees the larger argument from ya spec.

Stop wavin' your damn opinions around about Obama. If you have a problem with our city running rampant with hard drugs, get up and do something about it and try to help. Obama has nothing to do with this, so stop preaching and help someone in need. Lil' effort goes a long way, lot more than words on a website. But it isn't about that, is it?

Otherwise, just continue to sit and complain and tell someone else how they should do it.

Meh

You all argue over the most pointless stuff. I mean come on you can find much better threads to do that on. To the point though, this sentence is horribly long. 2 yrs for a .5. I don't know if any of you have ever seen or used this drug but by many standards that is a very small amount. I understand we need to protect the youth from this substance but Juneau's lack of consistency on the matter is appalling. Now I know from experience from being there to knowing the parties involved and this is not a case of strings being pulled. If you are paying attention to the news cycle on drugs in Juneau you will notice some real strings being proved. I guess what I'm trying to say is you all have no clue what is going on and the fact you comment on this about other matters just shows your lack of information or actual concern for the people. Remeber these are people an people deserve respect not to be picked apart because of a Facebook qoute. Now I could go on and name great people who have battled heroin addiction and even used for their whole life. But I am sure you have listened read or enjoyed their work. So please quit the pointless banter do some good and stop condemning the youth because we grow up in a instantaneous society. 15 years ago this would have been done and over with without the public offering their un-educated opinion.

That is all

STAY UP CHRIS. WE SEE YOU. BIGGER AND BETTER THINGS AWAIT.

Thank you, rafromfb, for your

Thank you, rafromfb, for standing up for Chris. Something that people also often forget is how their words cut the family members of the accused. Chris is not a bad guy. He made a poor decision. That's all. And he has the support and love of those of us who really know who he is and what his potential is. Instead of condemnnig him or treating him like a second rate citizen, I'm praying that this is in an opportunity for something good to come from this situation.

Please think twice before passing judgement on people like Chris. It does nothing to help them (in fact, writing people off only makes things worse). Instead, we need to work hard to rehabilitate those in our community that are suffering with addiction and we need to show support for the family members affected by those addictions.

Just Wondering

Everyone here reads the article and leaves a comment. so whats the problem seems like this young man has many friends defending him here. And my heart goes out to his family as they are victims of his addiction no family member ever wants to see this happen, Watching him slowly killing himself with drugs.Just waiting for that call that he over dosed and didnt make it this time. Friends have you ever tried a intervention for him. Or just got in his face and said man what are you doing to yourself . This a dangerous drug at any minute you can take to much and its over. So I am thinking his family as much as they hate to see him locked up know that maybe this will save his life for the time being. until he can get some serious help for this horrible drug. And friends if you know who is selling unless you are users turn them in. We will never be able to get it all off the street but we can start somewhere, Because if you think it cant happened to your family think again.Chris I dont know you but good luck.

^^^^^ good point

I'm not condoning drug use merely standing up for chris as a human being. All that sounds great in theory but if you have ever used drugs it is the most enabling environment ever if you bring in that "negitivity" (as they view it) they will simply brush you off or find new people to use with. Unfortantly it takes either jail or a od to quit. Or the emense desire to be better in life but you will need support and love.

Now if I could snap my fingers and remove heroin from the world I would but I can't in my good concinous turn in people for selling or using dope. I am a firm believer that we should be able to do whatever we want with our bodies. If you decide to run it to the ground then that's their call

Now I hope everyone understand the whole point no one should be commenting on these matters I was just simply responding to a slight at Chris an then a slight at me accusing me of not caring for my friends

This stuff should be handled quietly and decretly so we dont paint a Scarlet Letter on people.

And Juneau stop being so high and mighty I could come home today and point out people you respect and love that I have personally used drugs with.

Not everyone gets caught and we all know politics rule in the jtown.
